Is your company a love generator?

Some of you will know that my professional work and indeed purpose in life is grounded in learning to love, because at the essence of the qualities I aspire to develop within myself and within you; inner peace, happiness, confidence, well-being, deep fulfilment, meaningful purpose, and success that aligns with true-to-heart values, we find love.

I recently enjoyed a conversation about bringing love into the work space, ignited by the statement:

‘The corporate world is not ready for love!’

‘Isn’t it?’ I questioned, because I believe that the corporate world is more than ready for love, and that in some emerging spaces the corporate world is becoming a love generator.

If we are doing the ‘inner work’: learning to heal childhood wounds so that we can make peace with our stories, heal from any trauma and send love to the places where it has been missing , to embrace our shadow self to arrive at self-acceptance and renewed self-esteem, to re-programme our minds from a fear-based mindset to a mind in love where the voices of bravery, care, compassion and kindness preside over the voice of fear, doubt and critical judgement, to resolve inner conflicts and grow inner peace, and to learn to love and believe in our authentic self and our most exciting dreams, then we are mindfully and intentionally learning to live in love, embracing the qualities of acceptance, appreciation, care, compassion, gratitude, kindness, and forgiveness; the seeds that grow the love in our world. If we happen to be doing this ‘inner work’ while operating in the corporate arena, we have already brought love into the corporate world, because the ‘corporate world, is people, and when the leaders within the corporate world sponsors this, they also become ‘love generators’.

Not all companies allow for the extent of the inner work necessary to truly and deeply bring about profound transformation, where those engaged in the ‘inner work’ are given the confidential space and time to grow through this process to become brave, inspiring and powerful heart-centred leaders with the strength and magnetism to influence positive change, in their own small beautiful way or making big bold decisions at a leadership level.

You have to believe in yourself to take risks in the name of success where you most want it
You have to love yourself to command respect and own your worth
You have to accept yourself to truly accept others without the silent voice of critical judgment raising its voice when life holds up a mirror
You have to nurture a voice of loving kindness so that this is the voice that speaks out in your world
You have to love yourself to bravely boundary toxicity and stand in the name of love
You have to connect with your authentic world of feelings and emotions if you are to allow the façade of perfection to dissolve so that your inspired passion, heart-felt truth and wisdom can shine through and be felt in the hearts and minds of those listening when you decide to stand as a leader.
You have to make peace with yourself if you are to be peace in the present
You have to forgive yourself to make peace with the past and authentic forgiveness that is deeply felt is one of our greatest acts of love; love gives you the strength to stand before everything that is toxic, cruel, painful and heart-breaking and say ‘I forgive, so that I give space for love to grow’

Those enlightened leaders that recognise the value of this inner work, understand what it takes to grow a truly powerful leader, a leader that has the inner strength to transcend a fear-based leadership and rise to the realms of love, and they understand this, because they have journey far with their ‘inner work’.

What is the corporate world anyway? A common image evoked is of people in suits, striving to grow financial success, waking at dawn to be the early bird in and the night owl out, checking-in on work, out of work hours, and during home, family and personal time, in the name of progress, advancement, security, reward, recognition, acceptance, more money, while driven by fear, stressed often or always, and not in a good way, and living on the edge of burn-out. While this may be true of some people working in a corporate structure, the corporate world is, in essence, simply a hierarchical system in which products and services are created, generated, managed and sold for ideally a healthy profit, by people. How one operates within this world is a personal choice and how the overall culture is experienced, is a collective choice, albeit driven by senior leaders. When the system is aligned in growing love -when people within the structure do the inner work and those holding the reigns support it, we have a recipe for great success – a heart-centred culture that transcends a fearsome culture. This is what our world needs now.

The corporate world is part of our world: It is not a separate entity; it is an integral part of daily life in the modern world. Intentionally growing love in the corporate world is akin to growing love in any world; education, health care, governance, home and family systems, social networks, and our own inner worlds, the corporate world it not a separate entity to daily life, it is simple a space where a collective of people collaborate contractually to generate common goals that serve the greater vision.

And so, the question is not so much about whether or not the corporate world is ready for love, the question is, are you?

When people who choose to go to work in the corporate world go with a mind in love, embracing acceptance of self, their life story, of the present and possibility, and with acceptance others, when daily care, compassion, kindness and forgiveness is practiced, and self esteem developed through celebration of success, self-care, mind mastery and loving choices, the corporate world becomes infused with love. You are the source of love and if you decide, as a being of love, to work in a corporate field, you will sew new seeds and create new energies, because this is what love does. If you happen to be in a senior leadership role, your power to generate greater love holds even greater potential.

Corporate love is happening! It is not a question of whether or not the corporate world is ready for love, because love is already growing in the corporate world because we are living in the dawn of a cultural revolution.

When we learn how to go to work, wherever we work, and how to go home, to school, to visit our families and meet our friends, holding mindful presence and the intention to embrace our authentic self and true heart values, to choose to love and believe in ourselves; through the practices of acceptance, care, compassion, empathy, kindness, respect, appreciation, gratitude, forgiveness, understanding, and live our lives in pursuit of what brings happiness, joy and deep fulfilment, because this is what living in love looks like, we grow the love in our world, and everyone benefits.

Once we begin to walk this path, we find ourselves walking in the dawn of a new light, moving in the currents of a new peace, emotional freedom, happiness, joy and fulfilment, where our core life’s work becomes a story about how we harness the strength of our love to hold the light so that we can maintain our beautiful world.

I believe one of the most beautiful gifts the corporate world has to offer is the opportunity for people to foster heart-centred qualities because not only does this improve relationships, well-being, retention, culture, efficiency, effectiveness and ultimately success potential, it facilitates the growth of a much brighter world.
